New Hazelton is located at the junction of Yellowhead Highway 16 and BC Highway 62, 177 miles east of Prince Rupert.

New Hazelton, a small highway community, is one of 3 communities sharing the name Hazelton (the others are Hazelton and South Hazelton), known collectively as The Hazeltons. The name Hazelton comes from the numerous hazelnut bushes growing on the flats. The older community of Hazelton, situated at the confluence of the Skeena and Bulkley rivers, dates back to the 1800s, when it served as head of navigation on the Skeena and a wintering place for miners and prospectors from the Interior.

New Hazelton has all visitor services, including dining, lodging, camping, gas stations, a post office, bank and shopping mall.

Historic “Old Town” Hazelton, reconstructed to look much like it did in the 1890s.
‘Ksan Historic Indian Village and Museum, a replica Gitxsan Indian village, has 7 communal houses, totem poles and dugout canoes.
Sportfishing the Bulkley and Kispiox rivers.
A 1-lane bridge spans Hagwilget Canyon of the Bulkley River, one of the most photographed places in Canada.
