Burns Lake is located on Yellowhead Highway 16, 139 miles west of Prince George.

The village of Burns Lake had its modest beginnings in 1911, as the site of railway construction. Today, forestry is the mainstay of the economy, along with ranching and tourism.

Visitor services include lodging at 5 motels, a hotel, almost a dozen bed-and-breakfasts, dining at restaurants, and 3 shopping centres. Camping is available at a municipal campground and at private lakeside campgrounds located east and south of town. Internet available at library.
Attractions:
  • Heritage Centre/Lakes District Museum, housed in the Old Forestry Home, built in 1919, holds community artifacts dating back to the turn-of-the-century.
  • Heritage Buildings walking circle tour.
  • Farmer’s Markets in summer.
  • Babine Lake, the longest natural lake in the province.
